Meet Susan Leiva, DMD
I love helping people develop a beautiful, healthy smile that improves their self-esteem and confidence.
While seeing a person’s finished smile is wonderful, getting to know you during treatment and becoming your friend makes the smile so much better.
At age 12, I knew I wanted to be an orthodontist. I had braces, and the way they changed how I felt about myself was indescribable. I knew I needed to share that experience with others.
After many rewarding years in practice, I’m grateful for having met and helped so many wonderful people.
When a patient goes from being embarrassed by their crooked teeth to smiling and laughing with pride, I know I’ve done my job well.
I’m blessed to have such a fulfilling job!
Education
All of my higher education has focused on oral healthcare.
I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University for my associate’s degree, my registered dental hygienist degree, and my Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD).
I then completed my orthodontic training at New York University.
Continued Training
Keeping up the orthodontic advancements is important to me. Offering my patients the very best treatment is my highest priority. To do this, I continue to learn about the most comfortable and efficient treatment methods.
My continuing orthodontics education includes attending local and national conferences to learn from the leading experts.
Personal Life
I grew up in Bergen County, NJ, but Monroe Township has been my home for many years. I'm proud to have raised my daughter, Izabella here.
When I'm not caring for patients, keeping up with orthodontic developments, or enjoying time with Izabella, I like to stay busy. I enjoy traveling, the theater, dancing, and listening to all genres of music.
I love watching sports, especially football and baseball, and I'm a huge Yankees fan!
Part of Our Community
I'm happy to speak at Oak Tree and Mill Lake schools during dental health month. It's fun to teach kids about oral hygiene and inspire them to take care of their smiles!
